Imagine beautiful legs free of unsightly veins

Millions of men and women around the world are affected with the problem of unsightly leg veins. This can affect people of all ages, skin types and lifestyles.

It has been found that over 60% of the adult population actually suffer from varicose veins and spider veins so you are not alone.

Varicose veins are the result of enlarged vessels which have widened due to a weakness within the vein wall, this causes the vein to stretch and bulge becoming visible on the skin’s surface.

Leg Vein diagram

Spider veins are different to varicose veins and are small superficial red or purple veins which stretch almost like a web underneath the skin.

Through using combined technologies of light and laser, unsightly leg veins of all varieties can now be treated easily and simply.

LASER AND LIGHT TREATMENT

Most veins types can be treated, however different types of veins require different treatment.

Varicose veins are generally a deeper, blue vein and require a different method of treatment from dis-coloured cluster veins (commonly known as spider veins), which appear near the skin’s surface, a combination of different light and laser technologies may be required for the best results.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is another medical treatment that we offer to to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins.

Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a medical solution directly into the vein. The solution disrupts the lining of the blood vessel which causes it to swell and harden, and the blood to congeal. The vessel is then absorbed and removed by the body naturally.

Sclerotherapy is a well known proven procedure that has been used by doctors since the 1930’s. All Sclerotherapy procedures are carried out by our fully qualified, highly experience, expert registered nurse and you can be sure you are in safe hands.

All consultations are FREE and completely no obligation so please come and see us to find out what treatment may right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of leg veins can be treated?

Most veins types can be treated, however different types of veins require different treatment.

Varicose veins, for example, are generally a deeper blue vein and require an different method of treatment from dis-coloured cluster veins (commonly known as spider veins) which appear near the skin’s surface. Due to the different veins, a combination of different light and laser technologies may be required for the best results.

At Epilight New Skin Clinics we may combine a number of light and laser technologies, depending on your needs to achieve the very best results for you.

What technology is used for deeper, blue veins?

When treating larger, deeper veins (such as reticular veins), a laser component named 1064ND Yag (long pulse) laser system is used. This type of vein responds to the precise energy level and wavelength of light that is used. Travelling through the skin, the laser light is absorbed by the blood within the vein on the basis of its colour. Heat from the laser then coagulates or clots this blood within the vein and, as a result, destroys the vein without affecting any of the vein’s surrounding tissue.

The vein will eventually be absorbed by the body and disappear, this process can take approximately 6 to 12 weeks.

Are surface veins and spider veins treated the same way?

The superficial structures of spider veins and surface veins are smaller and need a different treatment from reticular veins. Rather than a laser, smaller surface veins are removed through the use of light energy.

Smaller veins are targeted through light energy which is absorbed into the blood. This is then transformed into heat, destroying the vein.

This intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) is extremely effective in the treatment of smaller veins.

At Epilight New Skin Clinics we have access to both technologies and can advise you of the treatment that will offer the best results for your specific needs.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatment sessions will largely depend on the number and type of veins that need to be treated, this is usually carried over a few months before the overall effect is complete.

Is treatment painful?

NO! This treatment involves use of laser pulses and intense Pulsed Light energy which some patients have described as similar to a small pinch. To help minimise any discomfort we apply chilled gel onto the skin as well as using other techniques. The complete treatment is non-invasive and treatment courses are short.

During treatment, non-invasive laser energy is absorbed by haemoglobin and converted to heat energy.

What treatment is it right for you?

At Epilight New Skin Clinics we are happy to discuss our treatments with you to help determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the procedure and what combination of treatments will achieve the best results for you.

Am I a suitable candidate for Sclerotherapy?

Prior to sclerotherapy, you will have a initial consultation with our registered nurse, who will decide if you're a suitable candidate for the procedure.

If you have history of blood clots, you will be assessed on an individual basis and treatment will depend on the current overall health, your medical history and the causes of any previous blood clots.

If you are pregnant you will not be allowed to undergo Sclerotherapy until at least 6 months post birth.

How does Sclerotherapy work?

During Sclerotherapy treatment, a salt solution is injected directly into the target vein using a very fine needle. This causes the blood vessel to swell and harden, and the blood to congeal. The vessel is then absorbed and removed by the body naturally.

How long does Sclerotherapy take?

The procedure itself takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

How effective is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy has been shown to remove 50%-80% of treated veins with each treatment session. Less than 1 in 20 people do not respond to Sclerotherapy at all.

How long until I see results?

Spider veins respond more quicklyr and may be completely healed within three to six weeks.

Larger veins may take a little longer to disappear but should be completey healed within 2-3 months.

While Sclerotherapy is a highly effective proven treatment, it is a medical procedure and results can not be gaurenteed.

What Happens After Sclerotherapy, is there any downtime?

NO, there is no downtime.

After treatment you will be able to resume your regular daily activities immediately.

For at least 48 hours following the treatment you should no use aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory drugs.

You should avoid the following for at least 48 hours after Sclerotherapy:

Hot compresses
Hot baths
Jacuzzi, saunas or steamrooms
prolonged exposure to sunlight

Are there any side effects of Sclerotherapy?

There may be some minor, mild side effects which are temporary and normally resolve within a couple of days.

These include:

Itching
Raised redness around the treatment area. (These should disappear within a few days)
Light Bruising around the treatment area.
